Lost Pet Polish

Hey everyone!
It's been a while.  Since the end of class I've been working on this shot, trying to finish it off amd call it "done".  I haven't gotten to animate the turtle yet but I've been trying to get the mechanics and weight working on the boy.  Let me know what you guys think over all.

  1. Hi Kyle, this is looking very good. Nice physicality overall. I feel like you've lost some of the impact of the turtle reveal, though, because you're spreading it out over a few too many poses and angles. For instance, we first see the turtle around 139, but he's in 3/4 perspective and we're trying to look where the boy is looking so the reveal is not as impactful as it should be. Try to keep the turtle hidden until around 162 when the boy is facing away from camera. Make sure that the turtle is presented directly to camera (not an oblique angle) and that you hold him there long enough to read (at least 18 frames). I do like that we see him again at the end. It's a nice juxtaposition of their expressions.
The boy's right hand pose around 133 is distracting - too complicated and such a strong silhouette that my eye goes right to it, when I should be watching his eyes. His right arm from 130-180 feels stiff; find ways to break it up so it feels more natural. Act out the shot and see what your arm does naturally.
Work on the physicality of his screen left foot from 117-130 where he's standing up. It's the only part I didn't believe.
Make sure his root doesn't lock for the last 20 frames - keep some sway in there.
That's all I've got. Great work!
