Assignment 3 spline
Hey Everybody,
So I tried my best to address the notes from class. I think it feels better over-all. I like that i put back the look around but something feels off, not sure what it is. Let me know what you think!
I think this feels closer!! Is that eyeroll purposeful or is it just transitioning to that last pose a little early? If it's purposeful I feel like it doesn't fit. I think that look up before he looks screen left is a little too big of a move, maybe change that first pose to be closer to the screen left look? Play with that distance and see what it feels like, right now it jumped out at me as being too big. Adjusting that might mean you have to adjust the head turn to be a tiny bit earlier, not too early since the eyes should lead the turn by a few frames! I feel like you could vary the head on the big anticipation move a little more, right now he does a big sweeping turn screen right but it feels almost floaty because it's such a big move over a long frame range. Maybe it's just the spacing? Maybe play with adding a little shake near the beginning of it? Or maybe it just needs a little stall in there somewhere (like a key with flat tangent handles) to help break that up? I don't know how to describe that in text. I might be wrong about these notes so take them with a grain of salt. Trust your gut! Try to play and not feel locked down if that makes sense? I think you're getting closer!!!
Pretty much what Elissa said. The first look up feels like he's getting an idea rather than scanning the room. The look to screen left feels like he's looking at the ground instead of up where other people might be, and the eyes going up as the lids close feels like an eye roll, which would need some more anim in head and brows to make it work. Give the head some more texture, such as small shakes, like you had in your 2nd blocking. Keep going!
Nice work man, it's feeling better. The main thing that stood out to me is the eye roll from 71-74. I think you could probably just take it out. The only other thing I'd add that hasn't been mentioned is the eye direction at the end. Somehow it feels a bit weird for me to have his eyes point to SR when his body is leaning towards SL. Like it's not where I expected them to go. It was kind of a gut reaction, but maybe it's not a big deal. Also it might be weird if they were pointing towards SL and then went right back there. I don't know. Yeah, all that being said though, this is looking nice. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.
