On my lunch ladies shot; I feel like I'm still not getting specific enough with my character that hates her job. I chose to name her Pearl. My mom watches loads of tv and movies and she suggested I look at Flo from the show Alice. Do you have any recommendations?
I feel like there's a big discrepancy between what I see and what I'm animating. I see and understand characters have unique choices and attitudes but I don't feel like I'm getting that into my work.
I would love to hear any suggestions you might have!!!

Hi Elissa, I thought your character was working pretty well, but it's always good to search for more specificity. As I remember her, 'Flo' was more sassy than jaded, and didn't hate her job. I can't think of any good examples off the top of my head, but I imagine any scene you can find featuring DMV workers would be good. There are also some really sour characters on Orange Is The New Black, if you can watch that. Other techniques you could try: think of her as an animal. What kind would she be? A cow? A gorilla? Will this lead you to any more specific postures or actions? Have you worked out her inner monologue? Have you asked someone else to act it out for you? Hopefully these ideas will spur something.
